Our vibrant Hot Club Ensemble play Gypsy Jazz and Swing from the 1930’s and 1940’s. The flexible line-up features guitars, fiddle, bass and drums and are represented by a number of leading London agencies where we’re enjoying the current popularity and resurgence of this energetic entertaining style.
Performing for clients as diverse as Ernst and Young, Toyota, Chicago Bears and American Express, we’re equally adept at soulful subtle background music or sensational swing floor fillers.
Justin and I met on the music degree course at Goldsmiths College and we soon discovered that we had very similar musical interests and playing aspirations. We were both interested in performing virtuosic repertoire on acoustic guitars, with a emphasis on improvisation.
The Duo is now in its sixth year and we are currently represented by a number of leading agencies across London. We are performing regularly across the UK and have played at a number of prestigious venues including the Tower of London, the V&A Museum, the Wallace Collection and the National Theatre. At clip of our performance at the national theatre can be seen below.
Rubina’s Blue Sky Happiness
This is a cover of a Joe Satriani song and one of the first songs that we arranged for two acoustic guitars.
I wrote this song whilst traveling in India in 2006. At the southern point of Goa lies Palolem Beach where I spent many evenings with my guitar creating the main chords sequences for this song.
Aguna de Aia
This song is a cover by the Brazilian guitarist Zezo Ribeiro. The arrangement works well for two guitars and allows the opportunity for both unison playing and improvisation.
